The first chewing gums that conquered the world from the USA after the Second World War were not made of plastic, but also came from the "chicle" tree, which belongs to the rubber tree family.

We at TREE GUM thought that this shouldn't be the case. At first it was just a (crackpot) idea, but soon it became really serious & shortly afterwards we "reinvented" chewing gum: a chewing gum made from purely natural ingredients that also tastes great and offers the usual chewing consistency.
Since all TREE GUM ingredients, including packaging, come from nature, we also want to further strengthen nature. That's why we plant a tree for every 12-pack of TREE GUM.
In the 70s and 80s, natural chewing gum was replaced by synthetic, petroleum-based plastic. First because there was a lack of raw materials and later because the manufacturers realised that it was cheaper.
What is particularly worrying is that plastic cannot be biodegraded. It remains forever. Even worse, due to mechanical forces, it decomposes into microplastics after a few years...
